The mission of President Nixon's Vietnamization plan was to have the South Vietnamese troops do more of the fighting, with the ultimate goal being the eventual removal of American troops from the country. The Vietnam War lasted from 1955 to 1975.

In many sources, it is just called " Nixon's Secret Plan to End the Vietnam War". A more formal name was Vietnamization. Nixon wanted to transfer all military responsibilities to South Vietnam so the US could withdraw its troops.
Some troops were withdrawn under Nixon, but the final evacuation was ordered during Ford's presidency (April, 1975).
