What was World War I's effect on music?

World War One had a slight effect on the music world. From 1914-1918, songs were composed that rallied young men to go off to war and fight for their country. Others reminded the people left at home to chin up, and put on a brave smile for the boys overseas. A classic song composed in World War One is "Keep The Home Fires Burning" The lyrics are; Keep the Home fires burning

While your hearts are yearning,

Though your lads are far away

They dream of home,

There's a silver lining

Through the dark clouds shining,

Turn the dark clouds inside out,

Till the boys come Home. See how the artist tells the listeners to cheer on the boys overseas? It was very effective to keep up the moral at home. It is even remembered today. --------------------------------------------------<>------------------------------------------------- There were people singers before World War 1, but as the war began people thought more about surviving that listening to music. There was Richard Bailey, and many others. Music was sung after the war, but for many years the music sounded sad and only some sang.
