That is a really broad question....go get more than one WW2 book from the library or somewhere and read it. that should tell you the truth about our history because the government is trying to change history so we don't know the truth so get an old one and start reading them because that's the only way you are going to learn the truth.
Also...the united states only entered the war the day after the bombing on pearl harbor December 7th,1941. So we entered the war December 8,1941. we had lost hundreds of thousands if not millions of men and we ended making this stupid idea of doing this thing called the "New Deal" and what happened with that, when president Roosevelt came up with that idea, we would start spending money we didn't have and go farther into dept. that's when the Great Depression started i think.
The government is going to try and change history so that the people become stupid and they can control them easier and get better cooperation from the people and so they don't teach us many things any more and sometimes lie. Some places they have told that the Holocaust wasn't real and that was Killing of 6 million Jews and others who opposed hitler in Nazis death camps called concentration camps. He had many more killed but that was just the concentration camps. the 3 worst were probably(listing from the number 1 worst the the 2nd to the third) Auschwitz, Treblinka, And Dachau.. there were many more but those were the worst. research them as much as possible.
Prior to entering World War 2, the US was suffering from many problems. They were still suffering from the Great Depression. While on one hand pressure from European allies to help them in the war was ever increasing, public opinion was against entering the war because of casualties in World War 1. Roosevelt needed a way to solve these problems.
At the same time Japan was growing in strength, ever since they became the first Asian country that defeated a western power in the Russo-Japanese war. They created the Greater Asia Co-Prosperity Sphere, calling for the elimination of western powers in Asia. Japan was the only modernized Asian nation at the time and mistakenly believed it was their responsibility to modernize Asia and to lead Asians against the West. (Some Japanese even believed they were racially superior because they were able to fight on par with the west)
China, which was effectively being controlled by the British empire following defeat in the First and Second Opium Wars, became a major battle ground for Japan. America aided the British Empire by imposing an embargo on Japan, cutting off essential resources for the Japanese industrial machine. Without resources, Japan's industry only had resources for 6 months of production. Additionally, Japan faced the threat of its bustling economy due to the industrial machine would crash. Japan attacked Hawaii to break the embargo.
Consequently, public opinion in the US changed completely and the US was able to enter the war and help their allies. Domestic military industrial production increased. Unemployed youth volunteered to fight in the war. With their deaths, unemployment problems decreased. The US was able to secure a foothold in Asia to project power and to gain its resources and markets for themselves. Also as an added bonus, the only non-western power was defeated, reestablishing western dominance in the world. Following the war, to justify cause, the US had to demonize the Japanese Empire, who in reality, was forced into World War 2 for reasons of security and existance. (The reason why the Japanese Empire didn't surrender until the USSR attacked Manchuria)
The US had many goals around the globe.
In Japan, it wanted to rebuild the economy and create an ally in the Pacific. Japan was a huge win for the USA. Hawaii became a state because of its strategic location in the Pacific. Philippines almost became a state for the same reason. Japan is even closer to Russia and China, so it was a perfect place to create over seas bases.
In Russia & China, the USA tried to stop the spread of communism. Which led to the Cold War, Korean War, and Vietnam War.
In the Middle East, the USA "chopped-up" the region and help create new states to prevent one country from controlling all the oil. Unfortunately, the USA helped form new kingdoms in the Middle East based on geographically borders and not by "tribes". To this day, different opposing tribes within the same country still fight over who should lead their country.
In Europe, the UN was formed with the USA pushing for its creation.
All over the world, the USA tried to stop nuclear proliferation.
After WWII, the "Military-Industrial Complex" flourished in the USA. The USA became a true, global super power and started "policing" the whole world.
