the daily life at mission San Buenaventura, for the Chumash Indians, went something like this:

sunrise; everyone went to the mission to pray

1 hour later; a bell rang for breakfast

7 AM; a bell rang to send neophytes to work

12 noon to 2 PM; neophytes ate their meal and had a rest, or siesta

2 pm; everyone went back to work

5 pm;the frairs held prayers and devotions

6 pm; supper,then free time

8 pm; bedtime for woman

9 pm; bedtime for men
