[Assuming that the question means what the time period was called during that time period....] It was centuries after the life of Jesus that anyone started referring to time as BC and AD. When Jesus was alive, nobody called it AD or BC. The Romans counted years from the foundation of Rome. Some countries would refer to such-and-such year of the reign of such-and-such king.
AD actually stands for "anno Domini," Latin for "year of the Lord." AD 1 is supposed to be the year of his birth, although there is no guarantee that this was calculated correctly. See the link below.
