There were a lot of different tribes, living under different conditions. Some were resident (stay-in-place) farmers, others were nomadic. Some were quite fierce and waged wars on their neighbors, others did not. Some were hit by droughts and diesases entirely w/o British influence and all but disappeared, others thrived.
