What was the 17Th and 18Th Century hang out place?

Coffee houses. Men were accused of spending more time in the coffee house than in their own homes. In 1700 there were over 2,000 coffee houses in London and each had developed its own clientele and became known as a meeting place for men of a particular occupation. Businessmen kept regular hours at a particular coffeehouse so that their clients and associates could find them.
