They would move up the north at night (as to not alert enemies). When they were one mile from there target, secondary armies would attack from the the east and west, as to flank and surround the enemy. When the enemy was sorrounded, athen soldiers mounted elephants and charged. Athens lost very few battles with this tactic. They would use highly trained eagles to drop flaming arrows on the enemy. This was the first form of air support. Many times they would even lauch diseased corpses over enemy fortress walls. They were infected with the common cold, a death sentence at the time.
