The Compromise of 1850 was several bills that were passed to help end the tensions between the north and the south states. It addressed territory boundaries and which states could have slaves.
I remember learning this in history class...Basically, it was that if southern state officials agreed to reinforce the new tax laws, the tax would be lowered over several years. This affected relations between the north and the south because it finally ended their big dispute, they made a compromise, and this helped them to get along better. Had this even not occurred, the south was about to rebel against the unfair tax laws and this would have meant BIG changes in the history of America. Hope I helped! (:
^^^^^^idiot
Quite favourable.
It seemed to 'draw a line' (literally) under the disagremeents by fixing a single line of latitude, North of which slavery would be illegal.
So when the various Western territories came up for admission to the Union, there need be no argument over the slavery question.
This lasted until the aftermath of the Mexican war, when it was clear that California was too big to fit into this arrangement, and another compromise had to be worked out. This new compromise was less satisfactory, and war followed in a few years.
The Missouri compromise was about whether slavery should continue a part of American society. It allowed the state of Missouri to become a part of the union while retaining slavery, balanced by admitting Maine, which was a free state. It also prohibited slavery in the new Louisiana Purchase states. It was considered deeply flawed on both sides, and merely established the differences that would later lead to war.
It allowed the territory of Missouri to join the USA as a slave-state.
There was no Civil War while the Missouri Compromise was in force. It kept the peace for thirty years. It was the debate over the admission of California, following the Mexican War, that made the Missouri Compromise inoperable (because the new state extended so far on either side of the line) and a new Compromise had to be worked out. This one did not last.
made it uber cooler.
That line was made obsolete. The new arrangemen was meant to be local voting on slavery in the new states of Kansas and Nebraska.
It really doesn't have any major impact on today's government

It preserved a nation that was half free and half slave.
Abraham Lincoln was beginning to lose interest in politics until the Missouri Compromise, a compromise between pro-slave and anti-slave factions, was repealed. He became aroused to make an impact on society based on that.

An advantage of integrating OPSEC principles in your day-to-day operations is that it:
