It was part of Czechoslovakia. Czechoslovakia splits up into two separate states: the Czech Republic and the Slovak Republic on January 1st 1993.
Russia took over it after WW2 and made it a Communist satellite country to have as a buffer between the "western" enemies.

Actually, when Czechoslovakia was created in 1918 (carved out of the defeated Austro-Hungarian empire), it consisted of three states: Bohemia, Moravia and Slovakia. The Sudetenland is located in the far western part of Bohemia. When Czechoslovakia split in 1993, the two states of Bohemia and Moravia joined to become the Czech Republic and Slovakia became a separate country. The Czechs and the Slovaks are of different ethnic origin and speak different languages (Czech and Slovak, respectively).
There were many names and it consisted of many old kingdoms but the regions are called Bohemia, Moravia, Silesia and Slovakia. It is often known as Kingdom of Bohemia or Lands of the Bohemian Crown. Slovakia however was historically part of Hungarian kingdom.

Although the Czech Republic was only founded in 1989 after the Velvet Revolution, it has a long and complex history. These were the names that would be used to identify the lands of the Czech people throughout most of its early history from 1100 ad to 1526, when the Hapsburg Dynasty acended to the throne of the Kindgom of Bohemia. It would be known as such until the 1st World War, after which what is now known as Slovakia, Sub Carpathian Ukraine, and the Modern day Czech Republic where combined to form the First Republic of Czechoslovakia. Due to Slovakia's compliance, it was granted status as a republic, while the Czech state was split into the Protectorates of Bohemia and Moravia. After the war, CZechoslovakia would be reunited, but after the communist coup, it was known as the Czech Socialist Republic until 1990. Czechoslovakia formally plit in 1993, forming the modern day Czech state.
