Pentecost celebrates the coming of the Holy Spirit to the disciples of Jesus in the Upper Room. In a sense it is the "birthday" of the Christian church.

Red is used in all Masses of the Holy Spirit, like Pentecost; in any Masses which commemorate Our Blessed Lord's Passion, and in feasts of the saints who were martyred.
