Basically, capitalist countries fought each other for access to RESOURCES in WW1 and again for MARKETS in WW2: ie; American Legion veterans cards referred to WW1 as the "Russian Intervention" until 1955. The loss of this (and later, China) huge markets and resources was a real blow to the "free marketers."
