New Federalism is a political ideology that feels certain powers should be transferred from the Federal Government back to the State Government. It would restore some of the autonomy and power the states had before FDR's New Deal and the Civil Rights Acts of the 1960's.

President Nixon's New Federalism stated that power should be taken away from the federal government and be given back to the states. He planned to do this by giving tax money back to the states and cities and allowing them decide how ti disperse them through their own programs.
