What were the consequences of the Holocaust?

Millions of people were killied. Many wonderful people lost, families torn apart, etc., but we also learn lessons from it =:)

One consequence of the Holocaust is quite obviously the countless people who died in the genocide. British troops were sent into a concentration camp in Belsen after this event has finished, 60,000 people were found being starved and a further 27,000 unburied bodies that had already been killed. No doubt the other 60,000 people alive if left any longer could of died. Another consequence is that Hitler and the Nazi's hatred of Non-Aryans may continue to be thought as a good idea in the future and that may have devastating effect on the world.

Millions of Jews died and many others. Hitler wanted the Germans to be the "Superior race."Many other families lost jobs and family. Children died at the concentration and death camps.

* Europe lost nearly two-thirds of its Jews (about 6 million out of a pre-war total of about 9.7 million). * Large areas of Eastern Europe had previously had flourishing Jewish communities - Warsaw, Lodz, Lviv (Lemberg), Vilnius, Riga, Czenowitz, Minsk, Kiev, Odessa - to name some of the bigger and best known. All these centres had gone, for ever. A simple example: in 1939, just before the start of World War 2, Lodz had a Jewish population of about 215,000. After the Holocaust about 800 Jews were left in Lodz. A small trickle of further survivors found their way back in the following months. This may help people understand something of the scale of human devastation caused, and why this is called the Holocaust. * There was increased determination among Jews in the then British Mandate of Palestine and among Holocaust survivors to establish Israel. However, they had to fight for the creation of Israel. It was not some consolation given by the victors. * On an individual level, survivors needed help to regain their health.

They weren't just killed they were gased, worked to death, and impaled just because they were Jewish.

Those people will be scarred for life and because of that the term, Jews are taking it as a hard thing. When someone uses that term in a school, there is a student who replies...I am a Jew. Every time I hear this the child sounds sad to be one. They should be proud of who they are and about who they're families were, but they can't be because that is something that can never be forgotten.
