The Quartering Act, which originated in the British Parliament in colonial times, ordered American colonists to house and feed British soldiers. There were two versions of the act, in 1765 and 1774. Neither was popular and in fact, increasingly, the American colonists resented these laws and sought ways to circumvent them; most state legislatures did in fact ignore or refuse to comply with them. These acts contributed to the belief on the part of the colonists that a revolution was necessary, in order to become independent from unfair British laws.
The Quartering act was passed by parliament in 1765. This law stated that colonists had to provide housing, candles, bedding, beverages, and more to British soldiers stationed in the colonies. I think that this act was appropriate because the soldiers were fighting for those people. However I do not agree with the way the soldiers took advantage of this law. It allowed the army to live in colonists houses if they needed to. It gave soldiers the right to storm into a colonist's home and take over, demanding food, clothing, firearms, and anything within the colonist's home. I think this act would have been successful if there would have been rules set for the soldiers.
the quartering act effect was that they closed the Boston harbor and they put British soldiers in homes and buildings cause the colonist owed money and they figured if they put all those new laws they would pay back
How would you like being told you had to provide room and board in your private home for a half dozen soldiers for an unspecified period of time without any compensation from the government? Well neither did the colonists!
it made the colonists upset.
The quartering act is the act that allowed the British soldiers to be quartered, or housed, in the colonist's homes. The colonists also had to feed, give them clothes, and take care of them until they felt that they didn't want or need to stay there anymore.
