A stairway 5' 3" wide and 13' 2" long led westwards down to the doorway of the tomb - this stair was filled with sand and rubble and was only discovered by chance. The door tself was sealed, but had evidence of being opened and re-sealed twice.
Beyond the door was a westwards passage or corridor, 25 feet long leading to a second, inner doorway. This too had been opened and re-sealed in ancient times.
Beyond was the antechamber or south room, making a T-shape with the corridor and oriented north-south. It was 26 feet long and 12 feet wide, with bare white walls; it looked like a storeroom, piled high with treasures, furniture and all manner of burial goods. In the wall opposite door two was the open entrance to a small annex which robbers had left in a state of upheaval, while the whole of the north wall of the antechamber was taken up with another, larger sealed door.
Beyond this third sealed door was the burial chamber, almost completely filled by the gilded wood shrine containing the coffins, one inside another like a Russian doll.
Leading off this chamber, at its eastern side, was the treasury room which had been partially disturbed by thieves. Here the large chest with canopic jars was discovered, among many other objects.
