In Greek mythology, Hera was the wife and sister of Zeus, the king of the gods. She was the daughter of the Titans Cronos and Rhea. After she was born, she and her siblings were swallowed by Cronos, who was jealous of their potential power. Only her brother Zeus was saved by Rhea. Zeus later fed his father a poison which caused Cronos to vomit his children out of his stomach.
When Cronos was dead, Zeus and his brothers divided the kingdom between themselves, leaving their sisters with nothing. This infuriated Hera.
Depending on which version you read, Zeus either seduced or kidnapped Hera and forced her to marry him. It was not a very happy marriage, due to Hera's jealous nature and Zeus's countless mistresses and illegitimate children. Their arguments were said to shake Mount Olympus. Hera went on to bear four children (Hephaestus, Ares, Ilithyia, and Hebe) and to terrorize Zeus's other lovers and children.
Hera never tried to kill Aphrodite in Greek myth.
