Who was Vlad the Impaler's first wife?

Vlad Tepes's second wife was Ilona Szilágyi. She was a Hungarian noblewoman. it was said Vlad merely married her to escape imprisonment and to gain Hungarian ally support. The two lived together after Vlad release in in 1474, in a house in the Hungarian capital. She gave him two sons. Vlad Dracula the IV and another son, who fell ill and died early in life.

She then threw herself into Arges River to escape enslavement.

Many have often confused Vlad Tepes' mother as being his first wife (Princess Cneajna). The confusion is derived from the similarities of the father and son's names. Vlad Tepes can commonly be found in historical documents portrayed as Vlad Dracula (the -a meaning "son of"), and can oftentimes be confused with Vlad Dracul (his father's name).

Not much is actually known about his first real wife. She was a Transylvania noblewoman. Apart from that, nothing else is known or recorded about her, other than her reported death. While Vlad was away in battle a Turks supposedly fired an arrow into the castle, reporting Vlad had died and Turks were closing in on the castle - this was of course a lie, that was made to cause trouble - Vlad's wife choose suicide rather than allowing herself to be captured. She flung herself from the castle to the river below and died. It was possible Vlad did love his wife, as she gave him his first son and heir -Mihnea cel Rău.

The reported death however has never been fully confirmed, but many believe it is true.

It was said she committed suicide by throwing herself out the castle into the river below, to avoiding being captured by Turks. While Vlad was away in battle, a Turk shot an arrow into the castle grounds and claimed Vlad was dead and Turks were approaching - However this was a lie, just throw the castle and land into chaos.

Vlad's first wife died during the siege of Poienari Castle, which was surrounded by the Ottoman army led by Radu. An archer having seen the shadow of Vlad's wife behind a window, shot an arrow through the window into Vlad's main quarters, with a message warning him that Radu's army was approaching. McNally and Florescu explain that the archer was one of Vlad's relatives, who sent the warning out of loyalty despite having converted to Islam to escape enslavement by the Turks. Upon reading the message, Vlad's wife threw herself from the tower into a tributary of the Arges River flowing below the castle. According to legend, she remarked that she "would rather have her body rot and be eaten by the fish of the Arges than be led into captivity by the Turks". Today, the tributary is called Râul Doamnei (the "Lady's River", also called the Princess's River). This legend is the only known historical reference to Vlad's first wife.

I like to say one thing, do not the take the above information as fact. No one really knows if she was nobel woman or not. There is only legends and stories. There is very little information on the first wife of Vlad, that no one can say.
