Well, based on the Hot 100 #1's for 2009, it's safe to say that The Black Eyed Peas had the best chart performance. They had 2 number one singles, Boom Boom
Pow and I Gotta Feeling. BBP was number 1 for 12 consecutive weeks, and IGF was number 1 for 14 consecutive weeks.
They dominated the chart for 26 weeks of 2009.
Other artists who had a successful year were Flo Rida, with 1 #1 (Right Round ft. Kesha) which stayed there for 6 consecutive weeks.
Lady Gaga had 2 #1 hits, Just Dance and Poker Face, and another big hit was Empire state of Mind (Jay Z & Alicia Keys) which went #1 towards the end of the year.
