He changed it from "Computing-Tabulating-Recording Company" to International Business Machines Corporation.
In 1914 Thomas J Watson joinedComputing-Tabulating-Recording Co., which made weighing scales, timeclocks, and also "tabulators" which sorted information using punched cards. Tabulators were forerunners of the earliest mainframe computers. The company was renamed International Business Machines Corporation (IBM) in 1924.
