God Who does not see as man sees , saw David as one having his heart inclined towards God to do God's will ( 1 Samuel 13:14, Acts 13:22 ) Man looks at the outward but God looks upon the heart (1 Samuel 16:17)Based on David's inclination to do God's will god chose him as king in the place of Saul who was quiet the opposite , inclined to disobedience (1 Samuel13:13-14 ).

Solomon was David's son by his wife Bathsheba (previously the wife of Uriah the Hittite, whom David had ordered to be abandoned at the height of a battle so that the enemy would kill him after David's affair with Bathsheba). Solomon was Bathsheba's second child by David, the child from the affair died only a few days after birth from an illness.
