The colonists who came to Jamestown had reasons to starts a colony and baptize Indians, so if they wanted to baptize someone else, then OF COURSE they would be Christians.
P.S They were from Europe, so what religion do you think they were of?
The Church of England. In 1607 the 106 men who arrived to form Jamestown were English and by 1607 the Church of England was the primary religion of England. The Catholic church had been replaced by Henry.
Jamestown was established by pilgrims from their mother country, Great Britain. The main reason they came to America was to get away from their strict rules of Christianity. They had to go to Church and all the churches were the same. If someone started following another religion or another form of Christianity then they were thrown in jail and sometimes even killed
In 1607 the London Company sent 104 men in three ships to VA to establish a colony. They built a fort on swampy land and within 6 months most of the 104 were dead or sick. Most of the men who came were there to look for riches and gold. They didn't plant crops or prepare to survive the cold winters of VA. The men were a combination of military, outlaws, and gentlemen. The religion of each man is not important in this case. Most likely they were Church of England, but there was a Spanish spy among them so he may have been catholic. Jamestown was an investment to make money not a means to leave England.
Most were Catholic, but also the Church of England.
King James the first was not a caltholic so when the colonists left they were spreading christianity

New York was originally a Dutch colony, and those Dutch brought their own religion with them (primarily Protestant Christianity). Eventually the British took the colony from the Dutch, and one of the first things they did was make the Church of England (now known in the US as Episcopal Church) the official religion of the colony. However, other Christian denominations were tolerated.
