The result of the first Russian Revolution of 1917, the "February Revolution", the reign of the Tsars ended. A Provisional Government was installed to keep order until a democratically elected Constituent Assembly could be seated to create a proper constitutional democracy. This did not happen, because of the second revolution, the October Revolution. In this revolution, Vladimir Lenin and his Bolshevik followers seized power from the now unpopular Provisional Government and set up a government controlled by the Communist Party.

The Russian Revolution began brewing during the Russo-Japanese war of 1904-1905, giving rise to Lenin, who was a young man during that time. The Japanese has been funding some of the revolutionaries thru their espionage activities during their war against Tsarist Russia. When the war ended in 1905, the revolution fizzled; until 1917, when Lenin had the strength to lead the communists (Red Army) in a successful over-throw of the Tsarist regime (White Army); becoming a socialist nation (communist), and officially a Soviet Union on or about 1922.

The Tsar Nicholas II abdicated and was later killed along with the entire royal family. The Communist Party took over Russia under Vladimir Lenin in the October Revolution. This effectively was the start of communism in Russia and later the U.S.S.R.

The Russian revolution of 1905 accomplished virtually nothing, although it did pave the way forward for the subsequent October Revolution of 1917.

This is when the fun started:

  • The tsardom, governing system for centuries, is literally killed off by the massacre of the ruling family.
  • The civil war begins and factional fighting occurs throughout the ex-empire.
  • Russia withdraws from World War 1, leaving the Triple Entente to fight their own way through.
  • Partly as a result of the revolution, western forces invade Russia providing gsupport to several White factions.
  • The Reds gain political domination and the majority of support.
  • Communism is instated as the economic and social system for Russia, and eventually for the surrounding satellites.

Obviously all of these events entail a lot more than one sentence, but covering each in even the most general way requires textbooks plural and hours of coursework.
