The Japanese Army committed atrocities & brutality against the Chinese civilian population of the city of Nanking (Nanjing), China. This included looting, mass murder, torture & rape. It is estimated that about 300,000 men, women & children were murdered during the six week period following the city's capture on December 13, 1937. This event is most often called the "Rape of Nanking" by historians. Google "Rape of Nanking" or "Nanking Massacre" for more details.
