16 people died when they were building this bridge and it was also very expensive. 700 people lost of their homes and a senior school lost half their campus. it took a lot of hard work to get this amgnificent monument finished and the very top arch was finally connected at 10pm on the very last day of construction.

∙ 14y agothe main issue was the federal government opposition to the project, they would have rathered that nsw chipped in their share of the war debt repayment, which the state governor didn't believe was the states problem as he wanted to create jobs for post war sydney. he sent police to the commonwealth bank in martain place and removed all the states cash before the federal government could take it.
the final insult was that the governor decided that he would officially open the bridge not a member of the royal family,which was protocol at the time.
