The top nightclub in the city at that time was Mike Fritzel's Chez Paree which was located at 610 N. Fairbanks Ct. All of the top entertainers from Sophie Tucker to Mae West to Frank Sinatra to Sammy Davis, Jr. to Nat King Cole performed there. The club opened in 1933 and closed in the early 1960s.
