There were a few reasons why the African Americans joined the British Army during the Revolutionary war. They joined because of the Dunmore's Proclamation which would give them freedom. Some also joined because they felt the need to fight for justice.

During the Revolutionary War, African Americans were allowed to join the army because the army needed the men. After the war, the army was for whites only again until the Civil War.

Why did African Americans did not enlist in the state to fight for independence?

If you are asking about the war for American independance from England, African Americans did fight in the war for independence. I'd recommend reading a little black history starting at wallbuilders.com for more information and links to books on the subject.

What did each side offer the African Americans to fight for their cause?

During the American Civil War, Union forces offered African Americans the opportunity to enlist in the Union Army and fight for their freedom. The Emancipation Proclamation, issued by President Abraham Lincoln, declared that all slaves in Confederate territory were to be set free, further incentivizing African Americans to join the Union cause. On the other hand, the Confederacy did not recruit African Americans initially, but later in the war, they offered freedom to enslaved individuals who were willing to fight for the Confederacy. However, this promise was not widely fulfilled and had little impact on the outcome of the war.

Could African Americans enlist in the Armed Forces in the 1920's?
