Pawnee earthlodges were designed to keep out rain, wind and snow. On the other hand they were an excellent breeding ground for fleas, lice and rodents.
The Pawnees used earthen lodges but used tipis when they traveled.
The Mesopotamians were invaded, and they grew lots of grain to trade for stone, wood and other materials that they needed (before they were building houses and building out of clay) to build houses and walls to protect themselves from invasions
Definitely houses! There might be a lot of building but almost everyone has a house. For every building there are probably 10 houses. Everyone in the building has a house.
