Causes of the October 1917 Revolution: 1) The July Days; several days of rioting sparked off by the June Offensiveagainst Germany, led by Alexander Kerensky. Kronstadt sailors marched into Petrograd demanding that the Soviet take power over the Provisional Government. Demands to improve Russia's economic situation were also made (food shortages, unemployment, and inflation). 2) The Kornilov Affair; Alexander Kerensky (Prime Minister from July 1917) appointed General Kornilovas military leader, an idea which soon backfired on him because he thought that Kornilov was going to try to set up a military Dictatorship against him. Kerensky paniced and denounced Kornilov. So people turned to the Bolsheviks for help; soldiers, workers and sailors defended the city, as did the Bolshevik Red Guard. This gave the Bolsheviks two things: weapons and respect. They were heroes. 3) Bolsheviks gain a majority in the Petrograd Soviet; In September 1917, the Bolsheviks gained a majority in the Petrograd Soviet. Liberals and other conservative forces were demoralized after the Kornilov Affair. The Provisional Government was now helpless. These were the 3 main factors in creating the perfect condition for a Bolshevik takeover in the form of a Revolution.

To answer this question in one word: "discontent." Civil unrest was what eventually led to the Soviet Bolshevik revolution in October 1917. After several ignoble defeats at the hands of the Germans in World War I, soldiers were beginning to get frustrated. Of course, the July Days riots were created not only by soldiers, but also by industrial workers fed up with the poor economic conditions caused by the war. The existence of a new class, the middle class, served as an example to the impoverished lower class that life didn't need to be so hard, and they projected much of their discontent on the current government. While the July Days riots were put down, agitators like Leon Trotsky, who enjoyed support from the military, stirred up discontent in the people. The Bolshevik Red Guards, having been helpfully supplied arms by Kerensky due to the Kornilov Affair, soon began the armed uprising. They enjoyed massive popular support, having portrayed themselves as strong leaders who would bring change in a troubled time.

There are a great number of long-term and immediate causes. The most prominent: the way that Russia's leadership and the Tsar personally was handling a (losing) war, causing massive loss of life; but mainly, the breakdown of Russia's wartime economy with resulting food shortages and steeply rising prices.

The cause of the revolution in March 1917 was a conspiracy of the big bourgeoisie and the top officials against Tsar Nicholas 2. Very rich people, the owners of the largest factories and banks wanted to come to power. They provoked riots in the capital Petrograd in order to cause the king from the front against Germany, where he was surrounded by troops loyal to him. They blackmailed him by his family, that is, his wife, four daughters and heir to the throne, which remained in the capital could fall into the hands of the raging crowd. When the king arrived, he was forced to abdicate in favor of his brother Michael, but he refused. Power in the country took the Provisional Government. The interim government was composed of big bourgeoisie or their henchmen. They have achieved power. But the interim government was overthrown in October 1917. Most of the ministers and those who participated in the conspiracy against the king were executed by the Bolsheviks or emigrated.

At what year Russian revolution started?

There were several "Russian Revolutions", but the furthest reaching was the October Revolution of 1917 (Ten Days That Shook the World), that saw the overthrow of the Tsar, the establishment of the USSR and the creation of a "Socialist Workers State". ANSWER: There were three revolutions in total. The first was in 1905, however, the result of that revolution was simply the creation of the Russian Parliament, the Duma, which had little power. Czar Nicholas II retained his power. The second was in February 1917, (the February Revolution) in which Czar Nicholas was forced to abdicate. Government was taken over by several political factions, the two main ones being the Mensheviks and the Bolsheviks. The new government wasn't working very well and the country fell into the third Revolution which was more like a civil war than a revolution. This third Revolution was in October 1917 (the October Revolution). It saw Lenin's Bolsheviks overthrow the government and oust the Mensheviks from any influence they had. Thus the October Revolution is when the present communist regime took power under Lenin. Lenin died in 1924 and Stalin took over. In the year 1917. my point is this does not answer the question
