The Battle of Gettysburg (July 1-3, 1863) was fought between Union and Confederate forces during the American Civil War. This battle held the largest number of casualties of the entire war.
Gettysburg is and was a town which, like all towns, had a cemetery. There is also a Gettysburg National Cemetery located on Cemetery Hill in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. David Wills, a local attorney was responsible for acquiring the land for this after the Civil War battle there.
They had very harsh conditions and they were like now I just want to get out and it was just absolutely horrible.

This particularly infantry, made up of individuals from Indiana, Wisconsin and Michigan areas, was said to have men with "iron dispositions" alongside excellent discipline and aptitude. They set the fighting standard for the war during many well-documented campaigns like Antietam and Gettysburg.
