The tea party was a group of smugglers throwing tea into Boston Harbor to protest the lowering of the tea tax making the smuggled Dutch tea higher in cost. It happened in 1773 resulting in the closing of the harbor. There were 3 years difference. They weren’t so much connected, but symbolic of the problems in the colonies and the king.
