The three goals of the European Explorations were:
1) They wanted to spread Christianity through missionaries in the Americas.
2) They wanted to expand their empires.
3) they wanted to become rich by increasing their wealth . European nation would increase in power and security.
European motives for voyages of exploration occurred during the Renaissance Era and included building of empires, diffusion of Christianity, ever-increasing opportunities for trade & new markets, greater power than before, and material goods & riches that included gold, spices, silver, and slaves.
The period is characterized as a time when Europeans began exploring the world by sea in search of trading partners, new goods, and new trade routes. In addition, some explorers set sail to simply learn more about the world. Whatever their reasons though, the information gained during the Age of Exploration significantly helped in the advancement of geographic knowledge.
