The mother-in-law was Peter Simon's mother-in-law. Jesus was not married. Jesus had called some of His disciples but perhaps not all. The Gospels are not exactly chronological. They do follow close but we are not sure about some of the events and there order. According to the Gospel of Matthew, Matthew is not called until after Peter's mother-in-law is healed.
