The colonists were warned of the British marching to Lexington and Concord by three riders- Paul Revere, William Dawes, and Dr. Samuel Prescott. Prescott was from Lexington and he actually got farther than Revere, bringing the news that "the British are coming." Dawes and Revere were stopped by British soldiers and had to turn back.
The most famous "Midnight Ride" in US history is that of April 18, 1775; the two "riders" who traveled from Boston to Lexington were Paul Revere and William Dawes, and they were joined in Lexington by Samuel Prescott for the journey from there to Concord.
However, there were actually many other riders who set out from Lexington to other towns in the surrounding countryside, so there were a lot more than three people involved.
