There were a couple of names for the Cromwell period. It was called the English Interregnum or the Protectorate.
The Royalists(Cavaliers) and the Parliment(roundheads). Oliver Cromwell was the leader of the Roundheads and Charles 1st was leader of the Cavaliers.
They were known simply as the Crusaders.

"Civil War" is a proper noun. So would be any of the names of the battles or the soldiers who fought in them.

At the time of the US Civil War battle of Shiloh, both armies confronting each other were named the Army of the Mississippi. Soon afterwards, the Confederates renamed that army to the Army of Tennessee.
