∙ 12y agoIt depends on which colonies you're talking about. I will give you a quick run through of the southern colonies and their main religious beliefs: Maryland, Catholic. Virginia, Anglican. North Carolina, Christian. South Carolina, christian. Georgia, Anglican.

∙ 11y agoThe South was predominantly Christian, and specifically Baptistic in its religion. Though Presbyterianism, Anglicanism(Episcopalian), Methodist, etc all thrived as well, the largest body was by far various people stemming from the baptistic theological traditions. They emphasized things like solo scriptura, believers only baptisms, independent churches loosely federated or completely separatist. The divergence of beliefs among baptists can thus be great as their is no central place to go to in order to get all their beliefs.
