Henry the 8th changed and turned the Catholic Church to Protestant in order to divorce and remarry as he couldn't get a Papal dispensation.

Most of the country became Protestant, specifically members of the Church of England.

The Protestant Reformation led to a schism in the Church, resulting in the Catholic Church and the Protestant Church. This caused turmoil and warfare, as the different denominations did not often tolerate each other. It did also lead to some reform of the Catholic Church in an attempt to win back followers.

Well, although it allowed people to see how the church had turned out to be a corrupted institution where indulgences were sold, buying and selling of church positions occured and false doctrines were practiced it negatively led to a series of religious wars which was called the Thirty Years' War.
