The Battle of Saratoga is one of the key battles fought in the American Revolution, occurring in northern New York in 1777. It was the major turning point of the Revolutionary War because it garnered French support of the Patriots. In short, the British were supposed to be attacking Washington's army at West Point in a three-pronged attack involving Leger approaching from the northwest, Howe from the south and Burgoyne from the north, splitting the colonies along the Hudson River. The campaign failed miserably as Howe misunderstood the missive and ended up staking his army in Philadelphia and sticking around there, while Leger was stopped by Indians on his march downward. Burgoyne, his fellow generals failing to mobilize properly, was being led by Indian guides and promptly halted in his tracks as the colonist army gunned down the Native Americans. The British finally surrender making this the first major American victory. It showed that despite British occupation of the cities, the countrysides would not be so easy to conquer. Soon after this war, the French under General Rochambeau take interest in the colonists and set up agreements with Washington agreeing to officially ally with the belligerent Patriots.
One of the 2 most important results of the battle of saratoga is that it caused European nation to think that Americans might win their war for INDEPENDENCE!!

winning it. NO, the Battle of Yorktown and the Battle of Saratoga Battle of Saratoga - because if the colonists had not won it they might not have had hope of winning the Revolutionary War. The Battle of Yorktown - because that was the last major battle of the Revolutionary War and the Colonists won it - this was written by a different person than who wrote, (stupidly), winning it
Probably Saratoga, in September 1777. This battle resulted in the capture of an entire British Army, proving to the world that Americans could successfully fight the British. This was the most important factor in the French decision to assist the Americans in fighting the ancient French enemy, the British. The French wanted to be sure they were not backing a dead horse. If not Saratoga, then Yorktown would be the most important battle. At Yorktown another entire British army was captured, and this proved to be the final straw for the British people, who no longer supported the war, once news of the disaster at Yorktown reached England.
The battle of Saratoga was the most important victory for the Americans. The British were planning to seize New York and separate New England from the other colonies. The 3 prong attack involved British units heading to the Albany area from New York City, Lake Ontario, and Lake Champlain. The nyc unit did not make it to the Albany for various reasons. The Lake Ontario unit was held up but rebels forts, local Indians, and the battle of Oriskany, which in reality could be more important than the battle of Saratoga. The last band was met by American soilders who defeated them. This major win helped recruit the aid of France, who was waiting for the sign that the American Revolution could prove succuessful if they interviened. What makes the battle of Saratoga most important is that the French then joined the Revolution, leading to the creation of the country we enjoy today.
The people who fought the battle of Saratoga were soldiers that had the ability to fight and had the enthusiasm that the generals needed soldiers also had to have the guts to fight and not retire for what they fear the most and I hope this helped okay .......o.0
The French decided to openly help us.
that the colonists were able to stay on that country
The most important effect of the Battle of Saratoga was that it convinced France to support the United States in the Revolutionary War. French involvement forced Britain to divert its resources to the Caribbean and Europe, weakening its war against the colonists in North America.
The Battle of Saratoga in the American Revolution marked the first time the American patriots were aided in any real way by the French, their newly found allies. Saratoga also marked one of the first and most significant victories for the American rebels. It was after Saratoga that the tide began to turn in the favor of the Americans.

No he was not in the Battle of Saratoga. The battle of Saratoga N.Y. was with Benedict Arnold and American General Gates. George Washington was in Philadelphia at the time, hiding from the most powerful British army led by General Gage. The Battles of Saratoga was were the two American Generals faced off against the British General Burgoyne. The Americans won.

Its difficult to say, because both were crucial. Without Trenton the Revolution would probably have collapsed at the end of 1776, so the state of affairs where Saratoga took place ten months later would never have been reached. And without Saratoga the French most likely would not have interceded on behalf of the Americans, and without French help the Revolution would not have ended successfully. As events played out both were necessary for an American victory. It is a matter of opinion then which was most important, or indeed if either can be said to be more important.
