On my 98 Cirrus, replaced the fuel cap and then disconnected the battery for 10 minutes and the check engine light turned off. My wifes Lexus had a similar problem. Sometimes a different brand of Gas will do the trick too.

The Chrysler Cirrus did not come out until 1995. You reset the check engine light with a scan tool or by unhooking the battery. If you have not repaired the cause of the code the light will come back on.

Idle speed on a 1998 Chrysler is computer controlled and is not adjustable. If idle speed is incorrect, you have a sensor, actuator, or mechanical failure. Places to start are, check for engine fault codes. Check for vacuum leaks.
My Cirrus wouldn't start with no check engine light either and it was not the battery because the radio, lights, power windows work. After taking to my mechanic he began checking the electrical system and found that the sparks plugs were not getting any power because the distributor was bad.
Start the engine and idle in park. Pull the dipstick, wipe off and reinsert. Pull again and read the level.

check the wiring to the alternator it could be loose
check your spark plugs they could fouling up or gummed up enough to spark for a while then as they heat up become worse. a lot of common problems with engine stalling can be directly related to plugs or coil etc.
After repairing the cause, you can reset with a scan tool or by unhooking the battery.
