How do you change differential oil?

You dont, you just top it up to the screw hole if needed. If there isn't a drain plug, the cover will need removed to drain the fluid. You then reseal the cover and fill the fluid.

Where is the transmission drain plug on a 1995 Chevrolet Camaro?

i dont think there is one most of the time you just pull the fluid pan bolts to take the fluis out just take all but like 2 or 3 on one side of the pan completely out then loosen them a little and let the pan fall and hang from the remaining bolts and have a drain pan underneath to catch all the fluid when your done take the other bolts off remove the pan and gasket and replace the gasket with a new one.

How do you change the transmission fluid and filter on a 1991 Oldsmobile 98?

Many cars dont have tranny fluid drain plugs. Have to remove pan anyway to change filter so loosen all bolts while keeping a large drain pan under lowest corner to catch fluid. Filter usually has one screw holding it in just take it off and replace with proper filter. Clean pan and tranny sealing surfaces WELL and be carefull not to bend the pan to prevent leaks. Using a gasket sealant applied to the pan place new gasket onto pan. Re-install pan dont over-tighten bolts it will bend pan. Add recommended amt and type fluid as per owners manual where the dipstick goes with a funnel. P.S. I usually put sealant on both sides of gasket. David

How to change transmission fluid Hyundai Elantra 2001?

1FLUID SHOULD BE DRAINED AFTER DRIVEN (HOT); its more effective. AUTOMATIC1a. Place the drain pan under the transaxle and remove the transaxle drain plug. 1b. Remove all but 2 [at opposite corners] of the pan retaining bolts. 2. Carefully pry the transaxle pan loose with a screwdriver. Dont damage the pan or transaxle gasket surface or leaks could develop. 3. Remove the pan and gasket. Carfully clean gasket surface of the transaxle to remove all traces of the old gasket and sealant. 4. Drain any remaining fluid from the transaxle pan, clean it with solvent and dry it thoroughly. Make sure to install the magnets in their original postions (indentations) in the pan. 5. Remove the retaining bolts and detach the old filter from transaxle. 6. Install new filter and tighten the bolts. 7. Make sure the gasket surface on the transaxle pan is clean, then install a new gasket. Put the pan in place against the transaxle and install the bolts [finger tight]. It's easier to first install 2 bolts at opposite corners to hold the pan in place for you. Working around the pan, tighten each bolt a little at a time until the final torque figure listed is reached 84-96 in-lbs dont over tighten bolts. Then reinstall drain plug and tighten to 25-32. 8. Install new fluid. With engine running, cycle gear selector through all positions a few times to circulate fluid throughout system. Then check fluid level to confirm an adequate refill.MANUAL1. After vehicle has been driven to warm fluid raise the vehicle and place on jackstands. Place the drain pan under transaxle, remove the drain plug and allow the old fluid to drain into the pan. 2. Clean threads on drain plug and hole, and reinstall the drain plug securely. 3. Add new fluid through the filler hole until it begins to run out of the filler hole. Install the check/fill plug and tighten it securley.

Do you need to use a sealant on your transmission pan after you remove it to change the fluid?

no u dont need to use sealant u should get a gasket

What happen if you dont fill your transmission fluid up?

If the transmission is low on fluid then the pump that circulates fluid through the transmission and gives it the hydraulic pressure that allows it to work will cease to function. If you are low/out of trans fluid you should empty it completely and change the trans pan gasket and trans filter while you are at it (usually less than $15 if you are doing it yourself). If you continue driving the vehicle without trans fluid it will break the transmission.

Where is the transmission drain plug located on a 2000 Ford Taurus?

I dont think there is one. You have to unbolt the whole tranny pan. It will take some effort to break the seal. Leave one side bolted still so you can tilt the pan and drain the atf that way.... Then take it all the way off, put a new gasket on and bolt her back up and refill. This only changes about have the fluid. So you have 50% new fluid. If you want you can then drive it though all gears and repeat the whole process. ( you wont need a new gasket) then you will have 75 or 80% new fluid. Im doing mine tonight. So ill let you know. goodluck.

04 Jeep Liberty 6cyl 3.7 how to change differential fluid?

Place a pan under the diff. unbolt the perimeter bolts on the diff cover. Remove the cover. You might have to take a blade and run it around the crack between the cover and the diff. housing. This will break the gasket material. Clean the gasket material from the mating surfaces off. Allow all the fluid to drain out. Now you can either go get a gasket (if you can even find one) or use the orange or black permetex gasket maker. Run this around the cover and make a circle around the bolt openings. Just dont get the gasket material in the bolt holes or the bolts wont go all the way back in. Then replace the bolts and torque them. Open the filler hole and refill the fluid to the bottom of the hole. If some comes out that is ok. Hope this helps you. Good luck.
