Apply for a duplicate title. Not a problem if you are the registered owner and the purchaser of the new vehicle
You are responsible for the title because you were the one that traded the car. You say the vehicle was never titled. Go to the DMV with the vin number and see if the car was titled and you did receive. If it was then apply for a lost title. If it was never titled you will have to go back to the dealer where it was bought and get them to process the paperwork for the title.
Answer: I take it you are talking about a trade in. You or the dealer will have to apply for a lost title.. simple.
You probably signed something saying that you would get the title to the lender so I believe that they can accelerate the loan. It shouldn't be hard for you to get a duplicate title if the title is lost.
Well, if you knowingly traded in a salvage/rebuilt car with a wrong/clean title he has the right to sue you for the extra money he gave you for your trade in since a salvage car is worth roughly 40% less than a comparable clean titled car. Did you sign over a salvage title when you traded the car in? If so, he has no legal recourse since the salvage title is clearly marked and it's his problem.
You may just need to sign a form stating that it was your car, and that you did sell it. It's up to him to get the paperwork, not you.
yes
You do, the dealer may roll it into the price, but ultimately you do
Refund or Title
Most state laws require a dealer to turn over title to a buyer, whether another dealer or individual, within 30 days of purhcase. The issue that I think you're asking about occurs when vehicles are bought and sold so quickly that the title doesn't have time to 'catch up' to the car. So, the dealer that sold a car, may in fact be waiting on the dealer or auction that sold him the car. As far as your second question, the dealer's name would appear on the "assignment of title", but not on the title itself as this is only required when the vehicle is titled to an individual.
Vehicle owner should take vehicle title or registration and photo I.D to dealer as they should not make a key until ownership is proven. Recently, it's been realized car theives have been getting keys to cars they want simply by writing down the vin. # and going to the dealer. Give the dodge dealer the vin number and they can get you one.
The dealer. Is the one who send. The title to other same state. And normally. They take about 6 or 8 weeks
In order to prove ownership you must have the title.
