Have your mechanic check the speedometer cable connections. They no longer use a cable. It is electronic. If the speedometer is not working but the odometer is, the problem is in the dash cluster. If both the speedometer and odometer are not working, the speed sensor in the transmission may be at fault.
check your fuses
the speed sensor is located on the side of the transmission, there is no physical cable like the older cars, the speedometer and sensor are electronic. If the speedometer is working and showing speed traveled but the trip meter (odometer) is not working, the speedometer itself is faulty, is the speedometer is not showing speed travel and the odometer is not logging miles travel, then most likely the speed sensor is dead.
Our odometer/tripmeter also just stopped working at 220,000 miles. This is an integral part of the speedometer assembly, and cannot be repaired. The entire speedometer must be replaced.
You cannot reset a speedometer. You can reset the trip meter but not the odometer. Reset the trip meter by pushing and holding the trip button.
Under the speedometer. Push the trip meter reset button and the display will change from outside temperature to the odometer.
press the knob on deshboard near speedometer and hold for some time to reset the odometer on any vech. with electronic meter
The speedometer is wired to a VSS. If it has failed then the unit will need to be replaced. Odometer and trip meter are wired into the same fuse and should be checked. If the fuse is blown the odometers will not work.
the plastic gear in the cluster that drives the odometer and the tripmeter is probly broken ..
You are referring to the trip meter right? My 2004 trip meters reset by turning the ignition key to accessory and then hold the reset button sticking out of the bezel in for several seconds. It will reset to 0. Same for the other trip meter if your car has two. The speedometer odometer cannot be reset except by an authorized facility. It is against federal law to reset a speedometer odometer.
it starts at the transmission near the firewall, runs through the firewall directly to the speedometer. you have to remove the combination meter(where the speedometer and guages are) in order to remove it.......this is not for amateurs!
the fuse is in the fuse box on the drivers side and it should be the fuse that is labeled speedometer..... only prob wit takin out the odometer fuse is then u have no speedometer......
