* Burned out bulbs * Defective lamp socket(s) * Broken wire between flasher/switches and actual lamps themselves
Before you replace the hazard flasher switch, try the WD-40 fix. Spray WD-40 around the switch and pop it up and down a few time and wiggle it around a bit. This will fix this type of problem most of the time.AnswerThe Hazard system is a separate circuit from the turn signals even though they use the same bulbs. I would replace the hazard flasher which should be located in the fuse box. I hope this helps you.
Try pushing the hazard light switch on steering column repeatedly. I had a strange problem with my hazards once and this fixed it for now. I think my problem was the signals not working though....
The flasher relay could be faulty. The year, make and model info would be helpful in answering your question.
possibly a bad headlight switch, or dimmer switch. Some later model buicks have a lighting module under the dash about in the middle. I think yours is too old to have that though.
Hey Greg==Ther e can be a coulple of causes. one, the turn signal switch or the lights don't have a good ground. Check it out. GoodluckJoe Thank you for the reply Joe. I pulled the flasher relay apart and the Mazda has two relays and a circuit board inside. Both relays appeared to work fine, but no right side signal lights. I squeezed the circuit board together and ...voila,signals. I am thinking it is a crack in the circuit board of the flasher. Even though the flasher is $80.00 Canadian, at least it isn't the wiring. Thanks Again Greg
The bulb is bad. Turn signals and flashers use different bulbs.
If you have directional lights, tail lights, and hi - mount brake light that works but no lower brake lights, replace the multi-function switch on the steering column. Order from MONSTER Auto Parts online for about $90.00. Buy from dealer 300-400.00. Parts house 200-300. No need to replace the 4 way flasher even though they do not work. They will when you replace the MultiFunction switch. Good luck!
Did you get an answer from another source? My turn signals will neither one work sometimes. But other times they work just fine. I am certain that it is the flasher as the emergency flashers don't work sometimes either. Stiil haven't come up with the location of the flasher though.
The hazard lights are a seprate circuit even though they share the same bulbs. I would first replace the hazard flasher; it simply plugs in. Usually the hazard flasher is located in the interior fuse panel. I hope this helps you. Mark
The brake lights are usually operated from an operating switch off the brake mechanism. It is most often a switch on or near the pedal, though a number of variations are also found. The switch has some kind of adjustment so that it will be activated and deactivated at the "right" time when the pedal is depressed and released. When the pedal is pushed down, the brake light circuit is powered up (through the turn signals, of course). When the brake pedal is released, the switch is opened and the brake lights should go off.If the brake lights do not go off, it has nothing to do with the wheels or any alignment issues. This is an electrical problem, and it centers on the operating switch and associated circuits. Remember that the brake lights are not an "isolated circuit" but work through the turn signals and flashers. Look at the brake light switch and how it is set up and adjusted. If this is all good, then look through the rest of the electrical system for the cause of the problem.
Your turn signal flasher is probably bad. Even though the turn signals and the hazard lights use the same bulbs, they operate on different circuits. Don't worry ,this is no big deal. Because the turn signal flashers are placed in different areas on different cars, I suggest you buy the flasher from any GM dealers parts department. Have the parts department print you out a picture of the flasher which will show you the part and its location under your dash. It simply plugs into a receptacle. I hope this helps you. Mark Everybody always says its the flasher, but for me that IS NOT the case. I have replaced the flasher and still have a problem where they flash sometimes and then not at other times. And sometimes they just turn off instead of flash. I haven't figured out what it is for sure, but I have been working on the problem. The flasher is a good place to start, but there is something else going on with mine... - Sheldon
I have a 1996 D R and have the same problem. Apparently the flasher switch needs to be replaced.
