After testing the coil for proper resistance and finding they had the proper values, I swapped them from one side to the other. The coil with no spark still had no spark. A new coil was installed, problem solved.
Your coil can be defective, or not grounded. Your wires can be defective, causing the spark to go to ground or another wire. your distributor points may be burnt, or not timed to the engine. Also check your ground straps...
BeCause the COIL makes the SPARK..IF U don't have the CORRECT voltage going 2 the positive side of the coil there will not B any spark.
try checking crankshaft sensor mine was bad on my 97 Saturn cost $12.00
you might want to check your coil wire.
Also depending on the vehicle, the crank sensor may have failed.
When i had that same problem a few weeks ago it turned out to be the Antitheft system went bad...this was on a Honda accord.
The year, make, model and engine info sure would help.
bad pick up or bad ignition module
is there spark through the wires to the plugs?
No. The coil provides the spark and the module tells the coil when to spark.
You apply 12 volts to the coil primary and then release it . The electricity will go through the secondary coil and spark the spark pug.
Check the coil or coil packs if equipped.
yes once the ignition control module heats up it would cause the vehicle to stall. usually after it cools down the vehicle will restart again.
you need a new distributor That can be one cause for this, could also be bad ignition coil, coil wire, or even spark plug wires. Test for spark at the coil, then coil wire, then the plug wire.
I have replaced the coil and distributor cap.
No spark would usually be the ignition coil.
Probably the coil for one of the cylinders, or the wire going from the coil to the spark plug if your coil isn't directly above the spark plug. Also a spark plug with cracked porcelin can cause what you are describing.
A bad ignition coil will cause your engine not to have any spark. Without any spark the engine cannot start or run.
Several things could cause a no spark situation on an engine. A bad coil, bad spark plug or coil wire, bad spark plugs, or a bad distributor could all cause this.
You will still have spark, car will try to start or backfire. If no spark at all the plugs see if you have GOOD spark from coil. If coil is working then you will find the problem in between the coil and the plugs, probably a distributor component issue. The ballast resister is a possible cause also.
Most automobiles will not start with a nonfunctioning coil pack. The coil pack will cause the spark plugs not to fire.
either the distibutor cap or the ignitoin coil, but check to see if the coil wire is arcing on the transmission dipstick tube!!
Could be a bad ignition coil either traditional type or C.O.P. (Coil on Plug) type
No it is probably ur spark plugs or spark plug wires, that electric distributor or coil No it is probably ur spark plugs or spark plug wires, that electric distributor or coil
Bad coil Bad rotor
