Can having too much antifreeze in your car cause it to overheat?

No, if anything it would get cooler from having too much. -You have a different problem, possibly a coolant leak.

It could be that your head gasket is shot. It may cause your antifreeze to leak, and your engine will overheat.

What would happen if you put antifreeze in your transmission?

antifreeze is intended only for an engine, not for a transmission. there is coolant FOR a transmission, i would say that there would not be sufficient cooling for the transmission. it would probably overheat.

What would cause a 63 dodge dart to overheat when a themostat is installed?

If you drive the Dart like I would (like a bat out of hell) the car would most likely overheat from fast acceleration, and more strain on the engine than what is needed. If you drive legaly, it could very well be the thermostat. Be sure that you use the correctly dilluted antifreeze.

Would antifreeze in a oil pan for a 350 Chevy motor cause rod bearing to go out?

yes, if you have coolant in the oil the oil doesn't give the rod bearings the lubrication that they need, they then overheat, and fail.

Would a 2002 Chevy cavalier overheat if the wrong antifreeze was put in?

A Chevy Cavalier can use standard, all-purpose antifreeze, so it's unlikely that the wrong kind was put in. However, if it is not diluted properly and the antifreeze is mixed with more than 50 percent water, the engine can overheat under some circumstances.

Why would a 1990 Ford Tempo leak antifreeze and overheat?

Hose failure, core plug failure, headgasket failure

What would cause the temperature gauge to go up?

The car can begin to overheat because it is low on oil or antifreeze/coolant. Your radiator can also be acting up. It is best to address this as soon as possible and not to let it go.

Would blown head gaskets cause your vehicle to overheat as soon as you drive it?

it is possible for heat from combustion to cause an engine to overheat quickly depending on where the gasket is blown, but i would look for a lack of coolant circulation first. if your coolant is not getting out of the motor and into the radiator it will overheat very quickly.
