If a cell did not have amino acids or the ability to produce them this would mean that cell did not have the plasma membrane and the membranes that surround a cellâ??s organelles. In this situation a cell would not have the ability to fix damage it sustained or be able to reproduce.

Protein synthesis would be limited - but it depends on which amino acids are in short supply. The body is able to synthesize some amino acids, the others are known as "essential amino acids" because they cannot be synthesized inside the body.

If no amino acids were available protein synthesis would stop.

What type of building blocks would you use to construct a protein?

Amino acids

What would Hydrolysis of a protein produce?

Amino Acids

Why can't your body produce proteins from carbohydrates and fats alone?

They would only supply our body with 12 of the 20 amino acids needed to make proteins. The other 8 are reffered to as the essential amino acids and we have to get them from foods.

What would you expect a peptide bond to link to?

two amino cids

What foods supply you with all the essential amino acids?

meat

Why are amino acids referred to as a polypeptide?

Polypeptides are short chains of amino acids, they have no functionality as a protein (long amino acid) would have.

Is creatine a compound from amino acids?

No, not really. It is an acid, and it does contain an amino group, but it is not generally considered an amino acid per se. The amino acids we generally speak of are alpha amino acids, and creatine is NOT one of those. When you ask if it is "from amino acids", then the answer would be YES. It is made in the body from several amino acids, such as methionine, glycine and arginine.

Why are the esters of amino acids commercially sold as the hydrochloride salts?

Otherwise the amino groups would form immines with other amino acids.

Why are amino acids called acids?

Amino acids all contain the carboxyl group (-CO2H), which is acidic. If named by IUPAC nomenclature they would be referred to as acids as well. For example glycine, the simplest amino acid, would be 2-aminoethanoic acid.

Would you find hydrophillic or hydrophobic amino acids on the external surface of a protein a protein?

Hydrophobic amino acids would be on the external surface of a protein. This is because these are the types of amino acids that help bind things together.

Why must all essential amino acids be present in the body at the same time for growth and repair to take place?

amino acids are very important. DNA for example is made from amino acids. without amino acids your cells would not be able to divide.
