Your fan moter is pulling to many amps. What this means is when your fan kicks on the power load is so high its burning the points in the relay. Replace the fan moter!
Saturn Shop Foreman here. Cooling fan relay, bad temp sensor, open in fan motor, if you jump last two terminals in the diagnostic connector you should hear the relay click, you can put a test light across the fan plug to test the circuit after you have done this, hope this helps
If the Chevy Celebrity radiator is smaller that the Saturn radiator it might well overheat from not enough cooling capacity. If the Chevy Celebrity radiator is the same size or larger than the Saturn radiator I would think it would not over heat.
You can check the cooling fan relay under the hood in the junction box but it would be a lot easier to just scan the vehicles computer......
If you ever plan on going to Saturn (which i think its impossible) you would have to were thick clothes because of the air and make it fresh inside the suit because Saturn's core is very hot. :-)good luck if u ever try going to Saturn
(going from left to right) it would be your second relay. so it looks like this. [] {} [] [] [] [] etc.. ^ this relay here
Thermal relay is stuck closed.
This all depends on the problem. It could be the fuse or the relay or the sensor or the fan motor itself. I would check the relay first.
The cooling fan is activated by a sensor, and possibly a relay. Most likely the sensor has gone bad.
it could be a cooling fan relay or the water pump is bad but i would say first the relay or the thermastate is sticking and not opening. bry
It depends how fast you are going.
Have you checked the cooling fan relay? ? This is the child's wooden block size relay installed in the fuse/relay box in under the hood. If it is bad the fan will not come on even if all the other sensors and components of the system are functioning. Also, This cooling fan relay draws a lot of amperage which causes it to heat up. On my '92 SC2, I have learned that the contacts of the relay have become so hot from the high current they carry that the fuse box sockets overheat and deform. It became necessary for me to open up the upper and lower halves of the fuse box and install new conductors to restore good contact with the relay pins. If you find that your cooling fan relay pins are discolored and the plastic housing is slightly deformed around the pins, you are likely haveing a similar problem. For a while I was able to just slightly twist the pins of a new relay using a pair pliers so that they would make tighter contact in the deformed sockets of the relay box. Hope this helps, JB
It would be in the Power Distribution Center under the hood, usually on the driver's side.
