Value of ANY gun is based on exact make, model, condition. Yours may be worth $50-$250. We really cannot even make a good guess without information. Sorry-

User Avatar

This gun was made in 1954 Value is too difficult to be accurate without seeing the gun. Condition which includes the amount of original finish and original configuration will determine value. Auto 5's with poly-chokes, compensators and recoil pads (other than Mag 12's) will reduce value. Near mint guns and original box will command an extra premium. Recommend taking it to a gun shop for appraisal.

16gauge is smaller. The larger the number, the smaller(thinner) the gauge

The answer to your question is Yes! 16gauge shotguns and shotshells are still made.

Your Browning standard 16 gauge auto-5 shotgun which was made in the year 1955 will be valued at 325 dollars for a plain barrel,375 dollars for a solid matte rib barrel, and 465 dollars for a vent rib barrel model, all with a 80% original finish remaining condition(good shape).

If you have the standard model then your shotgun is valued between 300-875 dollars based on a gun having between 10%-80% original finish remaining, and the bores being in good shape. The 10% represents 300 dollars, and the 875 dollars represents a gun having 80% original finish remaining.

Browning makes a bps pump model in 3 different barrel lengths and also found a tristar o/u.

I would need to know the model of the shotgun in question, along with the serial number to give you the correct answer to your question.

User Avatar

If your browning auto-5 was made in 12gauge then it was made in 1925,if your shotgun was made in 16gauge then it was made in 1929.

User Avatar

There is no way to age your browning auto-5 shotgun without a serial number. As to the value, this would be 450 dollars for a shotgun in the condition that you describe.I can say that the Browning auto-5 standard weight shotgun in 16gauge was made from 1946-1964.
