It is usually caused by a defective float mechanism in the gas tank. The float mechanism is what measures the gas level inside the tank.would a 2006 harley Davidson street glide have a float mechanism
They can return false readings but don't count on it. They can and will re-test.
When mine stopped working, I had to have the sending unit replaced. Unfortunately, to get to it you have to drop the gas tank, as it is located inside the tank. If you have a mechanic do the work, or you attempt it yourself, be sure you get the proper replacement. I think there are a couple that will fit, but the wrong one will give you false or wrong readings at the dashboard gauge.
It's not perfectly clear what you mean by "false readings."A polygraph test makes measurements of certain quantities. Assuming the equipment is working properly, these can't actually be "false", they are what they are. They may be invalid because it was hooked up wrong, or because the machine is not working right. The interpretation of the readings is done by a person, and it's certainly possible for that person to reach a false conclusion.
unfortunately the Chevy venture is known for have many of the sensors going bad. I have a 2000 Chevy Venture that gives the wrong readings for everything. I never know where my gas level is until it is actually 'empty'.
false can not be proven true wrong is not right
Could be a number of reasons. I'd recommend you take it in to a shop and have a system performance test done on it. While you could do it on your own with a manifold gauge set, you would have to be able to decipher what the pressure gauge readings indicate is wrong with the system.
False.
There are many readings one might find displayed with an OBD II scanner. The most common readings is that of a "Check Engine" option when something is going wrong.
