First, Ponce De Leon was not alive in 1918-- in fact, much of his exploration occurred in the early 1500s. He set sail from Spain in 1513, hoping to find the mythic Fountain of Youth, in what is today known as Florida. But he never found it. (It is worth noting that there is no evidence such a fountain exists, but it was widely believed back then.)
